Round trip assumes the same route, MPG, and gas price in both directions.
How the estimate works
Divide the one-way distance by your vehicle's miles per gallon to estimate fuel used. Multiply those gallons by the price per gallon to get the one-way cost. A round trip doubles that cost.
For example, a 100-mile drive at 25 MPG uses about 4 gallons. At $3.25 per gallon, that is $13 one way or $26 round trip.
Actual mileage changes with traffic, speed, weather, and vehicle load. Tolls, parking, and other trip expenses are not included.
